We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about the information Chit-Chat collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
This Privacy Policy explains how Chit-Chat ("Chit-Chat", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Chit-Chat mobile application (the "App").
Chit-Chat is a communication application that allows users to create accounts, communicate with other users, and use optional features such as media sharing, notifications, and location sharing.
By using Chit-Chat, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
We collect information that is necessary to provide and operate Chit-Chat and its features.
When you create a Chit-Chat account, we collect your phone number. Your phone number is used to create and authenticate your account.
We use a one-time password (OTP) to verify ownership of the phone number associated with your account and to authenticate you when signing in.
You may choose a username for your Chit-Chat account. Your username may be visible to other users when they interact with you through the App.
You may choose to add a profile picture to your account. Your profile picture may be visible to other users of Chit-Chat depending on the features and interactions available within the App.
Chit-Chat allows users to communicate through messages. To deliver messages between users, message content is temporarily transmitted to and stored on our backend servers.
72-Hour Message Retention: Messages stored on our backend are retained for a maximum of 72 hours. After 72 hours, the server-side copy of the message is deleted from our backend database.
Once a message has been delivered to the participating users, a local copy may remain stored on their respective devices. These local copies may continue to be accessible to the users even after the server-side copy has been deleted.
For example, if User A sends a message to User B, both users may continue to view their locally stored copies of the message after the 72-hour server retention period has ended.
If you install Chit-Chat or sign in on a new device, messages that are older than 72 hours cannot be retrieved from our backend because those messages have already been deleted from our servers.
Deleting a message from our backend does not automatically delete copies that have already been stored locally on a user's device.
Chit-Chat may request access to certain device features when you choose to use functionality that requires them. You can manage these permissions through your device settings.
Chit-Chat may request permission to send notifications to your device. Notifications may be used to alert you about new messages, account activity, or other relevant events within the App.
Chit-Chat may request access to your device camera when you choose to use features that require taking or capturing photos or other camera-based content.
Chit-Chat may request access to your device microphone when you choose to use features that require audio input or recording.
Chit-Chat may request access to your device location when you choose to use the location-sharing feature.
Location access is not required for general use of Chit-Chat. It is only used when you choose to use a feature that requires location information.
You can revoke device permissions at any time through your device settings. Disabling certain permissions may prevent you from using features that depend on those permissions.
We may use the information we collect to:
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services and for legitimate operational, security, or legal purposes.
Message content stored on our backend is retained for a maximum of 72 hours before being deleted from our backend database.
Account information such as your phone number, username, and profile picture may be retained for as long as your account remains active or as necessary to provide our services.
Information stored locally on your device may remain on your device until you delete it, clear the App's local data, or uninstall the App.
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share or disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information.
You may also manage device permissions, including notifications, camera, microphone, and location access, through your device settings.
